Announcing Our Runner for the
2026 Boston Marathon
Caitlin Hatt
I am so excited to be running the 2026 Boston Marathon on behalf of the Natick Education Foundation. This opportunity is incredibly meaningful to me, not only because running Boston has always been a dream, but because I get to support a community that shaped who I am. Natick is my hometown, and the Natick Public Schools have had a lasting impact on my life, my family, and so many others. Not only did my two siblings and I attend the Natick Public Schools, but my mom has been a Vice Principal at Kennedy Middle School for 19 years. It’s been inspiring to see the community she has built around her and the unwavering support she offers to both her students and colleagues.
I grew up as a soccer player and eventually found running after graduating from college. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to complete two half marathons; one in Bar Harbor, Maine, and one in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.
I have been enjoying the training process and have loved the structure it’s brought into my life. It definitely took some time to adjust to running in the cold, but I’ve loved exploring Boston in a new way. I’ve found some of my new favorite spots throughout the city, and my go-to loops have become long runs along the Charles and through the Fenway Victory Gardens!

Interested in running a future Boston Marathon for NEF?
Each year, NEF is awarded one or two Boston Marathon bibs through the Town of Natick via the Boston Athletic Association (BAA). NEF opens its Boston Marathon runner application process in mid-October. Information about the opportunity is shared on NEF’s website and social media platforms (so make sure to give us a follow!), and the application window generally remains open for three to four weeks.
Applicants are asked to describe their interest in supporting NEF and to outline a proposed fundraising plan as part of the application. Runner selections are made by the NEF Board, which reviews and votes on all submitted applications. Applicants are notified by early December. Once selected, runner(s) must sign an agreement committing to raise a specified fundraising amount (which varies year to year) by a designated deadline.
